Subject: JASON RICCI ROCKS!
Jason Ricci & New Blood's show of 9/15 could hardly be contained in the small dark club that is Terra Blues. I kept expecting people to come bursting in from outside to see what was going on, his show is so exuberant and phenomenally good. Jason is one of the premiere harmonica players alive today. His is a "don't miss" show, backed up as he is by great musicians like guitarist Shawn Starsky and drummer Steve Johnson. New Blood's base player Slim recently retired so they've been using temps. They aren't often in our neck of the woods....I came in to NYC from very far out on Long Island just to see him again. He has a devoted following who eagerly await his arrival wherever they travel in the US. In person he's as beautiful and nice as he is talented..will happily share his musical knowledge with those studying his techniques...as he studied Pat Ramsey's many years before. He has unflagging energy...those solos are unbelievably good and long! ...if you don't learn something about Blues Harp from listening to Jason Ricci live....you never will. Just go...sit, listen and you'll find yourself cheering till you're as hoarse as Jason at the end of his long show. Jason Ricci & New Blood ...NOT to be missed!

Subject: GUARANTEED FANTASTIC!
The first time I saw Jason Ricci and New Blood was at the Red Bank Jazz & Blues Fest on the Jersey Shore. As I was walking by the stage where they were warming up, Jason blew a couple two-three notes - checking his harps - and just from that, I knew I was in for the whole show. THESE GUYS BLEW ME AWAY! Jason plays a totally unique style - He knows all the foundations that every great harpist has to know -- but it doesn't stop there. He plays seriously bluesy rock that sometimes ventures into a fusion vibe -- miked and unmiked. Since that time, I've been to 5 or 6 shows and every time is amazing! Terra Blues was great - Killer tone, killer band - full tilt! This guy's the real deal.. no 3-minute standards here... One of my top three living harp players! When they come around again, don't miss them!

Notes

Jason Ricci - Vocals, Harmonica
Shawn Starsky - Guitar
Steve "Swinging" Johnson - Drums
Tom Terry - Bass

First 45 seconds of "Snowflakes" spliced from Garry Hodgson's recording (MM-FGNC-1 > Sony MZ-RH10 (256kb atrac3+) > wav > audacity) due to tape switch.
